While earlier this year, two renewable energy / small hydropower Programme of Activities (PoA) were successfully registered for Mexico and Thailand, two more SHP PoAs are requesting registration at the moment, e.g. Tunki Small Scale Hydropower Program of Activities for Peru, and Chilean Small Hydroelectric Power Plants Programme of Activities (PoA 6285).
Only two more new SHP PoAs have entered validation since July, as the end of 2012 and the end of the first Kyoto Protocol is approaching. In Indonesia, the BWC Sustainable Mini Hydropower Programme of Activities aims to include small-scale run-of-river hydropower plants and plants with a dam. The Small Hydropower Programme of Activities in Armenia entered validation in August, its purpose is to use carbon finance for SHP projects. The PoA has been supported by the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development through financing Technical Assistance for the set up of the PoA in the frame of the ArmSEFF program (the Armenian Sustainable Energy Finance Facility for industrial energy efficiency and renewable energy projects) in order to enable, simplify and support development of SHPP projects in Armenia. This PoA aims to include small-scale run-of-river hydropower plants, and plants with reservoirs.
